Obituary for Barbara Robbins

Barbara "Bunya" Robbins (Handler) died peacefully in her sleep in her home on February 12, 2016 in Citrus Heights, CA. She was 78.

Barbara was born on March 20, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY to her parents, Harry and Fayge Handler. She married in 1956 and raised two daughters, Abbi and Elisa (Lisi). She worked as a Legal Secretary until she retired and moved to upstate NY to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the Catskill Mountains. There she took pride in the renovating and building of a few homes until her bones needed warmer weather. In 2000, she moved to Florida and enjoyed her friends and family visits until she became very ill in 2012 whereupon she moved to California to be near family.

Barbara was a woman of determination and perseverance with an ability to pause and notice the beauty in nature and the arts. She loved to dance. She loved a good time. She loved to laugh. Her children were her most treasured asset and they were always made aware of that.

Barbara is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Abbi and Seth Zirin of Folsom, CA; her daughter and son-in-law Elisa (Lisi) and Martin Linscott of Eagle, NE; her brother and sister-in-law Peter and Florence Handler; her four grandchildren Marc, Rachel, Alexandra, and Samantha; and her nephew and niece, Evan Handler and Sheryl Handler-Matasar.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 11am at Montefiore Cemetery, 121-83 Springfield Boulevard, Springfield Gardens - Queens, NY 11413.
