Obituary for Marvin Kochman

KOCHMAN-Marvin C.,
M.D. Ophthalmologist, world traveler, ski and tennis enthusiast, Met Opera and New York Philharmonic lover, political and world events aficionado, died peacefully on January 10. Born on June 12, 1927, he was the son of the late Sol and Celia Kochmon, and brother of the late Richard. Devoted husband of Rosalind. Adored father of David (Marla), Stephen, and Debbie (Jim). Beloved grandfather of Ben, Adam, Jeremy and Julian. After graduating from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 1953, Marvin spent his career practicing ophthalmology, and was the founder and Senior Partner of the Brooklyn Eve Surgery Center, the first licensed ambulatory surgical facility in Brooklyn and the second in New York State. In 'retirement' he devoted his time and vast energy to the Alumni Association of the College of Medicine, SUNY Down­ state Medical Center, serving as President and Choir of the Board of Trustees, the Kings County Medical Society, walking in Prospect Park, and spending time with and imparting his vast wisdom and life lessons to his adored children and grandsons. Services will be held at Sherman's Flatbush Memorial Chapel, 1283 Conev Island Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11230 on January 15 at ll:OOam. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Prospect Park Alliance.
